Southbridge Care Homes is a Canadian owned enterprise providing acquisition, management and redevelopment services to the long-term care homes and retirement communities in Ontario.

Senior Management

As President and CEO, Keith is responsible for the development and execution of the Southbridge Care Homes business strategy, redevelopment program for Southbridge’s B&C homes, key supplier relationships, acquisitions and overall management of the Southbridge Care Homes team. Keith is an active member of the long term care industry participating in several Ministry of Health and LHIN discussion panels on redevelopment and funding reform. Keith brings to the role over 30 years of experience in senior management and business development in the health care industry.
As Chief Financial Officer, Ryan is responsible for financial reporting, capital structure, tax and treasury activities. Prior to joining Southbridge, Ryan’s health care related experience is from two industry leaders being Chartwell and Retirement Residences Real Estate Investment Trust (now Revera). Ryan is a Chartered Accountant that articled with PricewaterhouseCoopers and he has nearly 20 years of experience in various sectors including private equity in the US Pharma sector and treasury activities at the multinational level.
As Director of Operations, Richard is responsible for the oversight of the operations and asset management of the Southbridge Care Homes with our partner Extendicare Assist. Richard is also responsible for the onboarding of new acquisitions, and brand and culture development. Richard’s experience encompasses over 25 years in operations, business development and marketing in the health care, distribution and hospitality industries.
As Director of Development, Susan is responsible for the development and execution of the redevelopment program for the homes managed by Southbridge Care Homes. Susan has over twenty years of senior management experience specifically in building communities. She has lead the development of critical infrastructure for communities from securing investors to managing the development of billions of dollars in critical infrastructure. She has focused her strengths on projects that incorporate elements of social, economic, political and scientific theories. She is a community builder, her focus is partnerships, communication and finding common goals with multiple stakeholders and sustainable solutions.

Board of Directors

Peter Graham was a partner in the Cambridge public accounting firm of Graham Mathew Professional Corporation from 1972 to 2009. He was the managing partner during his last 12 years with the firm and continues with them in a client consulting capacity. Peter has been a financial advisor to a large number of profit and non-profit organizations and has been actively involved in the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Probus Club of Cambridge, Rotary Club of Galt, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, The United Way Tomorrow Fund, the Heritage Theological Seminary advisory committee, federal politics, and Junior Achievement.
Reginald Petersen has been active in the long-term care industry since 1967. Over a period of 30 years, Reginald built his company, Versa Care Limited, into the largest provider of long-term care beds in Ontario and the second largest in Canada. By 1997, Versa Care Limited owned and operated more than 47 homes with 6,500 beds and employed over 5,000 employees across Canada. Five of the facilities were multi-level care from independent living apartments, to semi-dependent living in an assisted living environment, to fully dependent living in a long-term care facility. Versa Care Limited led the Province of Ontario in closing down nine old and outdated homes, combining and redeveloping them into five new modern facilities. The homes owned and operated by Versa Care Limited were located in the Provinces of Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia.
Jeffrey Fineberg has practiced business law in Ontario since 1972 and is currently Counsel at Dentons Canada LLP. Dentons is a global law firm with more than 6,500 lawyers and professionals in 125 locations in over 50 countries across Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Russia and CIS, the UK and the US. Jeff’s practice areas include M&A, Corporate Finance and Securities and Private Equity. Among other Directorships, Jeff served as a Director of Versa Care Limited, then Ontario’s largest private nursing home operator, until it was sold by the Southbridge Group in 1997.
Dale Patterson is the President of The Bourton Group, a private, independent marketing, communications and government relations consulting practice. He is the Executive Director of the Retail Venture Funds Association, President of BioFinance Canada, Founding Chair of Biotechnology Council of Ontario, and former Executive Vice President of the Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund and the Canadian Science and Technologies Growth Fund. He has a Provincial Order-in-Council appointment as the Chair of the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board, served as a Special Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund, the Ontario Innovation Trust, and is the former Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology.

We are proud to be working with the MOHLTC to help build a patient-centric long-term care system by delivering quality care when people need it and protecting the health system for future generations’ well-being.

LHINs focus on their local community’s needs and improving health care for patients in every part of the Province. We are working with the LHINs to help facilitate effective and efficient integration of health care services, making it easier for people to get the best care in the most appropriate setting, when they need it.

We work with the local CCAC offices to support their efforts in facilitating care in Ontario’s diverse communities, providing equitable access, individualized care co-ordination and quality health care.

Southbridge is a member of the Ontario Long-Term Care Association (OLTCA), the largest long-term care provider association in Ontario and the only association that represents the full mix of long-term care operators – private, not-for-profit, charitable and municipal.
