53 more long-term care beds for seniors in Scugog

Port Perry’s only long-term care home to expand resident capacity

CAMBRIDGE, ON – APRIL 27, 2018 – The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has created 53 new long term care beds at Port Perry Place in the Township of Scugog.  Granville Anderson, MPP for Durham, was in Port Perry to make the announcement in the existing long-term care home, alongside Southbridge Care Homes’ CEO, Keith McIntosh.

Currently, Port Perry Place is home to 107 seniors and is the sole provider of long-term care services in the Township of Scugog. The addition of 53 long term care beds will allow for more seniors to receive the care they require.

“We are pleased to be able to not only maintain long term care in Port Perry, but through the support of MPP Granville Anderson, expand our capacity by an additional 53 beds,” said McIntosh. “These beds will continue our commitment to providing consistent, high-quality health care for Port Perry seniors both now and into the future.”

Operated by Southbridge Care Homes, Port Perry Place works closely with the Central East LHIN, which helps fund and coordinate services for residents in the Durham area. For more information about Port Perry Place, please visit www.portperryplace.ca.
